Completion of the upgrade of tourist infrastructure at Podsreda Castle

SLOVENIA, April 15 - As part of the project, three indoor spaces and a terrace were refurbished to host promotional events, presentations, and business meetings. The existing kitchen was also upgraded, enabling a higher-quality culinary offer, including the involvement of local providers and food producers.

A modern digital solution has been introduced to support visitor information and guidance, as well as the promotion of local offerings. The project placed particular emphasis on accessibility for vulnerable groups, the promotion of sustainable mobility, and the use of sustainable and locally sourced materials. At least 32% of the materials used were sustainable and locally sourced, and the project also incorporated energy-efficient solutions and heating based on renewable energy sources.

The total value of the project amounted to €685,999.66, with half of the funding provided as grants under the programme for border problem areas.

In his address, the Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development, Aleksander Jevšek, also underlined the importance of balanced regional development: “With the upgrade of tourist infrastructure at Podsreda Castle, we are not merely opening renovated spaces – we are opening new opportunities. This project is not only an investment in walls, equipment, and technology; it is an investment in people, in the community, and in the future of this area.”

The completed project contributes to improving the quality of the tourist offer, increasing the involvement of local stakeholders, and strengthening the local economy, while reinforcing the role of Podsreda Castle as a sustainable cultural tourism destination.
